Why we Retouch People in Photoshop
We retouch people to make them look the way that you would see them in real life. When we look at a photo we only see the 2D image of them, we don't see any movement or personality and this makes them look different from in real life. In a photograph a persons flaws are amplified, in real life we don't notice these flaws to the degree that the are shown in a photo. We retouch photos to make the person look how the looked when the photo was taken. When photos are retouched to the point where the person no longer looks how they usually look this is done for entertainment. People in magazines are made to look "perfect" everything that could be considered a flaw is changed. This is not done to make somebody look more like they do in real life but done for entertainment, like a character in a comic book.
